star-translations was founded in 2019 in San Giovanni Gemini, a small town in the heart of the Agrigento province in southern Sicily. Our location is not incidental: the Agrigento area has one of the highest per-capita volumes of translation requirements in Italy, driven by immigration proceedings, archaeological tourism, and commercial exchange with North African and wider Mediterranean markets.
Over time, the work expanded naturally. Sicily has an extraordinary literary tradition that requires translators able to render the author's voice, not just the meaning. The local courts need sworn translators with specific qualifications. The heritage sites receiving visitors from across the world need content that loses nothing in the passage between languages.
